Since the 1950’s our industries have been in decline. The people who were part of these industries, the way of life formed around them, and the skills that were an intrinsic part of them have been abandoned. Derelict mines, factories, and rusting machinery still stand in many parts of the British Isles as a testament to these lost engines.

Words and melodies from our industrial heritage and based on the folksongs 'The Old Miner' (Durham) and the 'Doffing Mistress' (Belfast)
What a huge talent Laura Cannell is... A fearless experimentalist and improviser with both spirit and sensitivity.
The Church setting is perfect and obviously inspirational for her, making the pieces sound ethereal and intangible...there but not there,if you will.
Her influences may be medieval but her approach is very firmly contemporary and her playing is strong and (com)passionate.
Very highly recommended without reservation.
Wow!...I feel the strongest urge for cigarette after listening to this. An album that will leave those who go through it, spent, emotionally raw and uplifted.
More of this kind of thing please!...and Mr Lee, its time you gave us an album. Catherine M. Fox
